Buddhist Centre, Croydon | Meditation and Buddhism classes for South London and Surrey

The Centre Team

A team of committed Buddhists run The Buddhist Centre. We seek to express our values not only through the work we do, but also through how we do it. Our aim is to help all of the people who come to the Centre to take the next step in their development – whatever that may be.

Some of the people you might meet at the centre are:

Ratnabodhi

Ratnabodhi has been involved in the FWBO for over 30 years and was ordained into the Western Buddhist Order in 1984. His name means ‘Jewel of Wisdom’. He has been at the Buddhist Centre Croydon for about 13 years. For most of that time he has been involved in teaching here and in financial management. At present he is Co-Chairman and Treasurer. He lives in a Buddhist household with two other members of the Western Buddhist Order.

Dhammavijaya

Dhammavijaya was ordained into the Western Buddhist Order in 1989. Since then he has worked in the (now defunct) Hockneys Vegetarian Restaurant and as a teacher of meditation and Buddhism at both the Croydon Buddhist Centre and in Mexico City. He is currently completing a part-time degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies. This ties in well with his enthusiasm for the study of Buddhism, as well as with his broader interest in language, history and culture. He values friendship immensely and takes great joy in seeing his friends deepen their spiritual practice. Curiously, he went through a phase of appearing on TV quiz shows (!) and has a strange obsession with Peter Gabriel.

Jnanagarbha

Khemasiddhi

Khemasiddhi first discovered the Croydon Buddhist Centre some 20 years ago and was ordained into the Western Buddhist Order in 1995. During this time she has brought up three children and worked in various administrative posts. To her great delight she was able to join the Centre team in 2006. She loves teaching, especially meditation, and encouraging people in their exploration of Buddhism. In her spare time she enjoys painting, yoga and country walks.
