The Dana (Generosity) Economy
At the Croydon Buddhist Centre, all our meditation and Buddhism classes and courses are on a donation basis. We believe that the Buddha’s teachings are priceless—and should be available to anyone, regardless of their financial means.

The Buddhist word for generosity is dana. It’s central to how we operate. We completely rely on the generosity of those who attend our classes and events—this is what we call the dana economy.

By giving, you join a flow of generosity that stretches back to the time of the Buddha, and that allows us to continue sharing the Dharma in Croydon and surrounding areas.
Suggested donations
For each class, course and event, we include 'suggested donation' amounts, to give you an idea about what we need financially to keep our activities going. We give separate suggestions to people who are 'waged' and 'unwaged'. If you are able to give the suggested amount that's relevant for you, please do so — it helps us a great deal.
Regular donations (via Direct Debit)
Regular monthly donations are especially helpful for us — they give us the stability we need to plan ahead, invest in our community, and offer new classes and events with confidence that our basic costs are covered.
Thank you for being part of this.
